Perceptions by Fiona Hind

I mostly paint in Oil and Acrylic. My inspiration comes from many places. The human body. The landscape. The sea. The sky.

I take pleasure in reconstructing and representing the things I see. I enjoy communicating perceptions, creating moods and environments: expressive and reflective, rebuilding memories; a painted photograph or snapshot of the places I have been.

There is never a big plan to my paintings. Sometimes only beginning with a composition which feels comfortable and with colours I am enjoying in that moment.

With my figurative and portrait work, I aim to capture something from the subject, whether I know them personally or not. A glint in their eye, the way they tilt their head, a curve in their torso. Something human, an individual quality, idiosyncrasy.

Painting, I find, both satisfying and frustrating. A constant challenge. A form of Escapism. A passion.

Artist/Painter at Fiona Hind

Born in the north of England. Fiona studied Art in Northern England then went on to study Public Art in Scotland. Currently spending her time between the UK and Germany. She exhibits her Artwork regularly, accepts commissions, and teaches individuals and groups. She continues her pursuit of painting in a more realistic style which she has done during the most of her painting life, but also allows herself opportunities to work in a looser, abstracted way. She believes that regular technical practice, experimentation and a continued learning attitude towards drawing and painting is essential. Also challenging yourself with subjects outside your comfort zone and always pushing the boundaries of your capabilities.
