Writer/Director Max Walker-Silverman’s Lefty/Righty shares the healing story of a broken family living in a small town. After winning the National Board of Review Student Award, the KODAK Vision Award, and the NYU Graduate Wasserman Directing Award, Lefty/Righty will now screen at the Oscar-qualifying Edinburgh International Film Festival. Lewis Pullman (Battle of the Sexes/Catch 22) stars as Righty and the film introduces newcomer Marty Grace Dennis as Lefty.

A divorced rancher makes a last visit to his ailing father’s bedside accompanied by his estranged six-year-old daughter.

Max Walker-Silverman grew up in rural Colorado and is an MFA candidate at NYU’s Graduate Film Program where he is a Willard T.C. Johnson Fellow. Having been employed as a cowhand, literary editor, and community organizer, his work now revolves around the allure and disfigurement of the American West.

Fan favourite Lewis Pullman played the lead in the Amazon pilot Highston and can be seen in Battle of the SexesThe Strangers: Prey at NightLean on PeteBad Times at the El Royal, Catch 22, and the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick. 

The films beautiful cinematography was created by the award-winning DOP Alfonso Herrera Salcedo with the very rare combination of anamorphic lenses and super 16mm film. Producer Grant Hyun’s work has appeared in the official selection at AFI Fest (The Peter Cassidy Project) and Raindance Film Festival (Get Away). Producer Jesse Hope’s recent crew credits include The Hateful Eight, and ‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

Lefty/Righty will screen at Edinburgh on June 27th at 6:15 pm
