Families will be treated to a unique outdoor Hallowen experience this weekend at PyroCeltica’s immersive Tam O’Shanter Trail. Between Wednesday 30th October – Sunday 3rd November, Roslin Glen’s woodland is transformed into a spooky adventure inspired by the famous Scots poem.

The torchlit theatrical trail brings to life the classic Robbie Burns narrative poem, “Tam O’Shanter”. Parts of the story will be reenacted by a host of supernatural characters, with visitors accompanying the main character Tam as he makes his way into the depths of Roslin Glen, brushes dangerously close with a rowdy party of witches and warlocks, and then flees back to the safety of his village.

The event will bring a uniquely Scottish flavour to Halloween celebrations by celebrating Scotland’s long-standing obsession with the supernatural. Originally written in Scots dialect, the poem is made newly accessible for all ages through interactive characters and immersive storytelling.

Roslin Glen is set to be transformed into a magical and otherworldly setting with the help of fire sculptures, flamethrowers, and a fire toy performance from PyroCeltica’s members. This is an opportunity to see the natural green space just outside Edinburgh in a new light, after dark, and lit up by visually spectacular installations.

The trail itself is a simple and flat walk roughly 1km in length, intended for families of all ages from very small children to their grandparents. Hot food and drinks will be provided by food vendors as well as toasted marshmallows.

This is the second immersive event that PyroCeltica has hosted in Roslin Glen, following the successful Garden of Fiery Delights that saw 2,500 visitors flock to the area outside Edinburgh over five days.

Organisers, PyroCeltica, are a leading Scottish Fire Theatre Company based in Edinburgh who specialise in Celtic fire performances. Having worked internationally, taking performances and installations to festivals around the world, PyroCeltica are now organising immersive fiery events closer to home that provide unique experiences for families and visitors to Edinburgh. Drawn by its myths, legends and mysteries, Roslin Glen provides the perfect setting for this accessible walk and the event aims to highlight its natural beauty and spark the imagination of the attendees.

Tickets are available to buy from Citizen Ticket. Discounted tickets are available to Roslin locals on the first two evenings (Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st October).
