Two floppy-eared bunnies by the name of Hutch and Stew (Ivor Macaskill and Rosana Cade, respectively) find themselves in a bit of a pickle on Christmas morning.

With one carrot between two, they could make do. But with Stew having secretly dispatched a raft of dinner invitations, they’re forced to leaf through their Festive Cook Book in search of culinary inspiration.

But wait, someone has taken a bite out of their yuletide recipe for a tasty, juicy, crispy, roasted TUR…

Is it a turtle dove? Is it a turnover of apple proportions? Or is it, as Stew salivatingly submits, a turd. (Cue cries of ew! from the target audience of two- to seven-year-olds.)

Of course not.

But neither is it a turkey. For as the title of Capital Theatres and Scottish Theatre Producers’ co-presentation suggests, the only game in town is meet and greet.

What follows is a heart-warming, rib-tickling, time-travelling adventure courtesy of a “season turner” aka salt grinder (get it?) in which Hutch and Stew create a sumptuous feast from “a mashed up little side-dish that no-one likes”.

The moral of the story gently underlined in several participatory song-and-dance numbers: caring is sharing, love makes us grow and humour is the spice of life.

“There’s loads of fungus,” says Hutch after squeezing through a labyrinth of wormholes to an underground jazz club. “But there’s not mushroom!” Badum-tish!
